Living Life with Love My involvement with Barnabas House began in 2002 when I registered for a
course in prayer ministry with a friend. I would never have had the courage
to come by myself. I had no intention of becoming involved in prayer
ministry. I was there to find the healing I so desperately needed in the
teaching being offered. That course laid the groundwork for what was to
come. I saw patterns and structures and ways of coping in my life that
needed to be dismantled. The weeks of group ministry time began to bring
about the needed breakthrough in my life. Then I took the Ancient Paths 1
course. More significant healing took place during that weekend as I was
blessed and affirmed. Next I took on the role of bookkeeper because it was a
job I could do easily and made me feel like I was giving back a measure of
what had been given to me. Subsequent to that came involvement on the board
of directors, a job I took on a little reluctantly because there was a need,
not because I felt particularly capable or equipped.
When the friend I took the course with was ready to
launch into ministry she asked me to partner with her. I agreed to help ....
as long as she took the lead. I was still feeling very inadequate and lacked
the self confidence to be a bona fide co-facilitator. It was a rewarding
year as we were able to help several clients in their journey to wholeness.
When my friend was no longer able to be at Barnabas House, I offered to sit
in with Stephen one morning a week as he ministered. I was a silent
partner, only listening and recording and praying. More courses followed -
Encountering Jesus and Empowering Relationships. More healing occurred
during these times of ministry. In the summer of 2008 I became incapacitated
with major depression and was no longer able to continue my duties at
Barnabas House. Others graciously filled my shoes. I was off for seven
months. One day Stephen appeared at my door out of concern for me. He washed
my feet and spoke much needed words of blessing into my life. It was as if Jesus Himself
was here in the flesh.
From that day on things began to turn around for me. My
spirit rose up and I began to see God's care and love for me in so many
amazing ways. I was slowly restored to full mental health and I have not
been the same since. I have been launched into a new life and a whole new
way of living. Life can't get any better. It is the abundant life I have
always longed for. I love the new me and now I am able to minister alongside
Stephen with new found confidence as a true co-facilitator in a much more
active and effective way as a result of "the blessing". Barnabas House is a
place of healing and blessing. I thank God for it and for the privilege of
being a part of it.

Experience with the Pastoral Care Prayer Healing Course In the 14 years during which I have tried to learn more about how to minister God’s healing to people, this course has proved the most powerful, useful tool of the many I have pursued. Prior courses have left me with a large fund of useful information but lacking a clear idea of how to use all that information effectively in ministry
As I have started using the approach taught in this course for ministry I have found that it works! The course has taught us a disciplined, respectful approach that constantly reminds us to seek the leading of the Holy Spirit at each stage along the way. I find this a valuable correction to my more habitual tendency to follow a course set by my insights and my ‘wisdom’. I highly recommend the course to anyone wanting to see God’s transforming work in people’s lives.
Stephen gives excellent leadership in this course. He is gracious, effective, and gently steered us back on track as we shed old habits and learned to let the Holy Spirit direct our sessions. We benefited a great deal from his breadth of experience in prayer ministry.
